James H. Smythe launched Habitec Security in 1972 from his mother’s dining room table. It has since grown into one the nation’s largest residential and commercial security companies. In 2006, Mr. Smythe sadly passed away after a valiant fight with Leukemia. Since then Habitec has continued to thrive under the management of his son, John R. Smythe. Expansion of the company has lead to full service branch offices in Toledo, Central Ohio, and Northern Michigan.
